History

Burydown, together with Mount Stamper, extended the Post Office SHF network from Plymouth (Forder Battery) towards Goonhilly. A short form of the "standard tower" was provided, with the option to carry horn antennas. Goonhilly opened in 1962 and there is reference to Pye equipment being used in the Upper 6 GHz band for a link from there to Plymouth around that time, however it is possible this used a temporary structure - 1962 appears to be relatively early for a "standard tower".
